William Gittings

Gittings, William ~ surrounded by his loving family at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 67 years to Aileen (Mawer) Gittings. Loving father of Maurice Gittings, Stephen (Donna) Gittings, Elaine (John) D'Amico and Susan (Edward) Pendykoski. Grandpa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kristin (Shaun) Kimpel, Robert (Paula) D'Amico, Gregory (Sarah) Pendykoski, Sarah Gittings (Brian), Katharine Gittings and Matthew Gittings and by his great grandchildren Haley Rose Kimpel, the late Amy Christine Kimpel, Jacob William Kimpel, Landon Embry Parks and Emily Scarlett Reeves. Bill will also be missed by his sister-in-law Hilda Deakin and many nieces and nephews in England. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Alice, Nell, Rose, Lil, Charlie, Harold and George. He worked as a millwright for the Ontario Paper Co. retiring in 1983. Bill is a veteran of WWII serving in the Royal Air Force in England. The family would like to thank the Emergency Room staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital and the paramedics for their kind and compassionate care.
