RUTHERFORD, VIRGINA “Ginny” (née Hanson) – Peacefully, with family by her side, and just weeks before her 80th birthday Ginny passed away at Niagara Health Marotta Family Hospital on Friday, July 10, 2026. Ginny is now reunited with her beloved husband, Wayne, whom she missed dearly since his death on June 2, 2008. Their love and devotion to one another remained a constant throughout her life. Cherished and caring Mom to Geoff and Keith (Jennifer). Grandmother to Daulton and Eli. One of eight sisters, Ginny leaves behind Diana (the late Dennis) Hunt, Margo Hotrum, Jan Hanson, Wendy (Bill) Steele, and Kim Hanson, and was predeceased by Ginger Hanson and Barb (Gary) Lee. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Family meant everything to Ginny. She especially treasured spending time at the family cottage in Victoria County, Ontario, creating countless memories with those she loved. Among her happiest times were the cherished “Sister Weekends,” when all eight sisters would gather to laugh, reminisce, and enjoy each other’s company. Ginny enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was always ready for a little fun and excitement. She loved trips to the casino to play the slot machines, playing bingo, and trying her luck with scratch tickets.  Private family services will take place, and Ginny and Wayne will be laid to rest together at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
