SHERRY, VERNON EUGENE: Member of the Infantry with the Algonquin Regiment in the Canadian Army serving in Germany, France, Continental Europe, and Canada, and recipient of the Best Gunner in his Battalion of over a thousand men. Vernon was a proud First Nations Veteran. Vernon retired after 30 years from the St. Lawrence Seaway Traffic Control Office and worked his entire life to take care of his family. At the Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie on Friday, December 4, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones, Vernon of Thorold in his 83rd year, passed away. Cherished Father of Lynne, Vernon Jr., Laurie, Michelle and the late Randy and husband of 22 years, and dear friend to Gaye. Grampa to 13 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. Relatives and friends will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 4 p.m. Cremation to follow. A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 17 Thorold. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Douglas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, who were angels to the family.
