McCARTNEY, VALERIE CLAIRE – Peacefully, with her family by her side on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Tufford Manor at the age of 82. Beloved Mom to Adrienne (Antonino Vicari) and Alan (Erin Riseing). Val will be fondly remembered by her niece Deb Nicols. Val is predeceased by her parents Charles and Ruby Nicholls, and her sister Glenda. Born in Ottawa, Val moved to St. Catharines in the late 1960's, settling in Secord Woods and staying in Merritton for more than 50 years. She was a devoted and active member of St. James and St. Columba Anglican Churches as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 138. She was lucky enough to maintain deep friendships with her childhood friends Anne and Sandra. Val decided to attend Niagara College as an adult studying marketing, which helped her in running her many home businesses: resume writing, catering, selling wine jellies. She also worked in the office at Manpower and was a long-time funeral assistant and celebrant at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home. She loved travelling to the cottage with her friends, "her" Toronto Raptors, studying genealogy, anything elephant and although her favourite colour was purple, she never forgot her Irish roots. Visitors will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street Thorold on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Immediately followed by a memorial service in the Chapel.
