Ugo Angrilli
June 20, 1944 - January 15, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ugo Angrilli in his 81st year on January 15, 2026 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls. Ugo was a devoted loving husband to Lucia (nee Di Paolo) for 51 years. He was a very proud father of Josephine De Prophetis and Paolo and a very caring father-in-law to Ruth Angrilli. Ugo was a truly cherished Nonno to Julia, Sophia, Ava, Lucy and Leah who brought him endless joy and happiness every day.
Born in Pescara, Italy, Ugo was the youngest of eight children and was predeceased by his beloved mother Giuseppina and father Giuseppe, his brothers Antonio, Vincenzo, Biagio and Giovanni, sisters Lucia, Ines and Olga, as well his brother in laws and his sister in laws, Ugo was also predeceased by his one and only favourite son-in-law, Remo De Prophetis in 2023. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families in Italy and Belgium.
On April 1967, Ugo made the courageous decision to move to Canada, and live with his brother Biagio and his loving sister-in-law Maria where he began building the foundation of a life defined by hard work and dedication, as well as spending special times with his three of his closest nephews, Stan, Anthony and Mauro Angrilli. He later returned to Pescara where he met the love of his life, Lucia. Together, they arrived back to Canada to start their family and create a home in St. Catharines and later on in Thorold in 1985 which was filled with love, perseverance, and strong values.
A man who could fix (almost) anything, Ugo was known for his skill, patience, and determination. He spent 40 years working for Sears Canada, where he specialized in repairing sewing machines, vacuums, among many other things. His craftsmanship and reliability earned him the respect of many colleagues and customers alike.
Ugo retired in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and pride in a job well done.Ugo was liked by anyone he encountered with. His sense of humour and easy going personality was a trait that all admired. He loved to share stories and make conversation, even if he didn't even know you. He enjoyed all his time spent with family, friends, neighbours and co-workers. One thing he truly enjoyed was spending quality time for whichever celebration came up with his family, gathered around the table, enjoying a special feast made by his wife Lucia, telling stories and sharing laughs.
Ugo lived for his fondness of his gardens he grew, the repairs he made in his shed, his taste in the vehicles he drove, and watching wrestling and old cowboy movies on television. He was a proud member of Club Roma for many years as he enjoyed bartending for special events for them in his earlier days.
Ugo’s legacy lives on through the family he built, the skills he shared, and the love and values he passed down through generations. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM.
