Pountain, Thomas Frederick "Tom" ~ March 10 1921~April 6, 2008. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Dad and Granddad. Ever loving husband for 64 wonderful years to the late Doll (March 31, 2006). He will be forever missed by his children Linda and her husband the late Vince Westgarth, Sandie and David Morgan and by his grandchildren David, Ian & Monika. Tom will be missed by many close friends here in Canada especially his 2nd family at Romby's and many nieces and nephews in England especially Alan & Val and Cyril & Violet. Dad joined the British Royal Marines in 1938 at the age of 17, and started his Navy career on the H.M.S. Portsmouth. He served on many ships but his fondest memory was of the H.M.S. Edinburgh on which he served as a Royal Marine from July 5th, 1939 to May 2nd, 1945. His ship was sunk and many of the crew perished in the Barents Sea off the coast of Murmansk Russia on the May 2nd, 1945. Dad left the Navy September 9th, 1952. Dad's health had been failing for the past few years and we would like to thank Dr. Peter Hyatt and staff, Linwell pharmacy, Dr's Singh and Ramahan for all their care and devotion. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sandra Hartman, nurses Celia you are our guardian angel and Suzanne, dad's daily care givers Jen, Sharon and Andrea at C.C.A.C. that gave us support when we needed it, to let him end his days with dignity at home. We would like to thank T.D. Bank, Pendale and Geneva St. and Marsha and Gina for their constant support over the last 2 years, without their help we would not have gotten through these past 2 years. Dear Dad, go be with Mom with our blessing.
