Saverina Assunta Covello

COVELLO, SAVERINA ASSUNTA - Peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on June 2, 2021, in her 93rd year, surrounded by her loving family. Reunited with her husband Gaetano (2014) with whom she built a life for 62 years. Loving mother of Gini (Hank) Schonewille, Vince (the late Dorothy, 2012), and Gloria (Todd) Morris. Dear sister of Pietro (Elisa) Pantano and Assunta Pantano in Italy. Predeceased by brother Angelo (Clara) Pantano in Belgium, and sister Laura (Salvatore) Parise. Nonna to Erik (Cheryl Penner) Schonewille, Sarah (Wayne) Nagy, Josh (Christina Bosilo) Schonewille, Mark (Alysia) Schonewille, Daniel (Jamie) Schonewille, Alicia Covello-Villatoro, Vinny Covello, Saverina Covello, Megan (Coulter Jasnich) Morris, and Zachary (Sierra Handley) Morris. Nonnina to Taylor, Robert, Alexandra, Noah, Sophia, Alivia, Chloe, Liam, Quinn, Eleanor, Bennett, Logan, Samuel, Cruz, Ayva, and Gia.
Born in 1928 in Aprigliano, Cosenza, Italy, Saverina married Gaetano in 1952 before he left for Canada. She later joined him in 1954 to continue their life journey and start a family. Her passion for sewing began at an early age and continued throughout her life, which included working in the tailor shop at Sears for 15 years. She loved having her family gathered around a table of food that she lovingly cooked for them. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Thorold, and a member of the Italian Catholic Women's League. She was also a founding member of the Padre Pio Prayer Group in Thorold. Due to COVID Restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. If desired, donations in Saverina's memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
