Salvatore “Sam” De Mita
March 14th, 1949 - November 22nd, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Salvatore De Mita, a loving husband, father, grandfather and innovative founder of Sun Collision Centre. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 54 years Kathy, his son Anthony (Gloria) DeMita and his adoring grandchildren Ashley and Sammy. Sam is predeceased by his beloved parents Antonio and Maria De Mita and brother Angelo (Sharon) De Mita. Cherished always by his sister-in-law Loretta (Rick) Burnett, brother-in-law Dave (Laura) Rapattoni, his many nieces and nephews Krista and Michael DeMita (and family), Jennifer (Jason) Smith (and family), Christopher Burnett. He will be greatly missed by his loving Goddaughter Alyssa (Robert) Rapattoni-Viger and lifelong special friends, Dante and Judy Perrone and Ray Kaoble. Sam was born in 1949 in the charming town of Nusco, Italy and came to Canada at just 15 years old. In St. Catharines, Sam and Kathy raised their loving son, Anthony and in 1979 started his legacy, Sun Collision Centre. Sam will forever be remembered for his intelligence and strong work ethic. He was a man of immense generosity, humour and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. Sam loved hosting his friends and family at the shop for espresso, lunches and Sunday races. His passion for F1, Italian cars and soccer, along with his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered. Sunday’s at the shop will never be the same, but we will carry on this tradition in your honour. Visitors will be received on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY CHURCH 21 Queen Street South, Thorold on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal. Sam’s big heart will always be remembered. He absolutely adored children, whether it be making them laugh, or giving them toy cars at the shop. We ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation be placed to the Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre, a charity Sam held very near and dear to his heart. Donations and online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
Our family would like to thank those who provided Sam with exceptional compassion and care. We extend great gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff at West Hills Care Centre.
