Ruth Martin

Martin, Ruth ~ peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Hospice Niagara on Friday, September 30, 2011 in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Stuart Martin (1998). Cherished mother of Boyd, Linda (Perry), Pat (Kevin), Tom (Bev) and Tim (Nancy). Much loved nana of Sherry (Terry), Craig (Stephanie), Kristina (Keith), Tammy (Craig), Jason, Katie, Crystal (Luke), Bradley, Meagan, Amy and Nicole and great nana of Reneé, Cole and Isabelle. Ruth will be sadly missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. She was involved in the Santa Claus Parade from 1997 to 2009, and was honoured as the Grand Parade Marshall in the last parade. In 2002 she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her dedication to community service in organizing the annual Santa Claus Parade by the Corporation of the City of Thorold. Ruth also won the award for Senior Citizen of the Year in 2002 by the Thorold Chamber of Commerce and the City of Thorold and in 2009 was awarded the Good Citizen Award by the City of Thorold.
