MANNING, RUSSELL CHARLES “Red” (retired from Hayes Dana after more than 30 years of service, and a long-time member of Trinity United Church Choir). Suddenly, at home, with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, April 23, 2026 in his 83rd year. Cherished husband to Shirley (Née Barber) for 61 years. Loving Dad to Carol (James) Flannigan, Heather (Eric) Rioux, Patricia (Mark) Jenkins and Russell. He was a very proud grandfather to Kyle, Jamie, Christina, Christopher, Jessica, Krystal, Brianna and predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Lyndsy. Great Grandfather to Julie, Angel, Maggie, Grace, Rosie, Chelsea, Kylie, Jillian, Emily, Ethan, Destiny, Jonathan and Keira. Survived by his sister-in-law Jean (Fred) McKeen, Russell was predeceased by his brothers Richard and Bruce (Diane), and in-laws Kathleen McCauley and David Barber. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, his extended family and his many friends. Russell will be remembered as a gentle, caring man—someone who was always ready to lend a hand and who could fix just about anything. Over the years, his creativity and patience grew into the skill of a fine, finish-level woodworker. Russell and Shirley also treasured their summers at Camp Ashtabula on Pidgeon Lake for the past 20 years; before that, the family made countless camping memories together, always finding time for a little fishing on their yearly vacations. Russell and Shirley shared a true love of making a house a home. Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow immediately in the Lamb Chapel of the funeral home. Cremation will follow, and Russell will be laid to rest in St. David’s Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations to Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
