DADDARIO, ROSALIE (née D'Amelio) – Peacefully, yet unexpectedly, and surrounded by her loving family shortly after celebrating her 67th wedding anniversary, Rosalie passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital at the age of 86.
Beloved wife and companion of Rinaldo "Rocky" Daddario. Loving mother of Paula (Raymond) Skochelas, Donna Daddario, and Sandra (Rick) Reece. Cherished Grandma of Karlee-Rae and Kira Skochelas. Born into a large and close-knit family, Rosalie is survived by her sister Lena (the late Wes) Kis and was predeceased by her siblings Danny D'Amelio (surviving spouse Tina), Phyllis (William) Felice, Frank (Rena) D’Amelio and Ann (Leo) Rosetto. She was also predeceased by her parents, Nick and Annita D'Amelio (née DiPardo).
Rosalie was truly the life of the party. Her contagious energy could brighten any room and lift the spirits of everyone around her. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, including her many nieces and nephews, long-time clients, and her beloved fur babies, Foxy and Tony (her very first cat) who undoubtedly benefited from her generous sharing of snacks.
A talented hairstylist, Rosalie dedicated her career to helping others look and feel their best. Alongside her partner, she proudly owned and operated two salons in Thorold for many years. Her creativity extended beyond her profession, finding expression through painting and ceramics, hobbies she enjoyed throughout her life. Rosalie also had a lifelong love of games and friendly competition. Whether playing a challenging game of aggravation, tackling puzzles, playing a strategic card game, or golfing with friends, she embraced every opportunity to have fun. She was a founding member of the Niagara District Senior Ladies Golf League in 1989 and was also among the first female baseball players in Thorold. Family was at the centre of Rosalie's life. She and Rocky created countless cherished memories while vacationing at cottages in Northern Ontario, where fishing, outdoor activities, and laughter were always plentiful. For many winters, they also enjoyed their home in Naples, Florida, where they formed many meaningful friendships.
Rosalie was fun-loving. She was strong-willed. She was a breast cancer survivor. Above all, she chose happiness every day. Her spirit, warmth, and unwavering love for life will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Rosalie's Life will be held at Club Belvedere 57 John Street, Thorold on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. A private Rite of Committal laying Rosalie to rest will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. In memory of Rosalie, donations to Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital or the Hairstylist Program at Niagara College would be appreciated by her family.
