D'Ammizio, Rocco ~ it is with great sorrow that the family of Rocco announce his peaceful passing at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2008. Rocco celebrated his 84th birthday surrounded by his loved ones, Saturday, March 8th. Beloved and devoted husband of 64 years to Angela (Iannelli) D'Ammizio. Dear and devoted father of Josie (André) Lauzon, Mario D'Ammizio and Liana (Bill) Urquhart. Cherished and devoted grandfather of Natalie (Somkiat) Rangkla, Chantal Deknatel, Carla (Steve) Hewson, Angela and David Urquhart and Michael. Loving great grandfather to Jonah and Abbey Deknatel and Katie Hewson. Loving and caring brother of Antonio (Michelina) D'Ammizio and Immacolata (Augostino) Falovo and brother-in-law of Maria D'Ammizio, Rocca D'Ammizio, Nazzarena (the late Domenic) Iannelli and Abramo (the late Mimma Roma) Iannelli. Predeceased by his parents Pietro and Donata D'Ammizio, brothers Vincenzo D'Ammizio, Domenico D'Ammizio, Frank and Concetta D'Ammizio and sisters Addolorata D'Ammizio and Domenica and Egidio Del Duca. Also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Rocco and Felicia Iannelli, brothers-in-law Domenico Iannelli and Tommaso and Mary Iannelli and sister-in-law Franca and Mario D'Epiro. Rocco will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. He immigrated to Canada in 1949 and worked at the Ontario Paper Mill. He enjoyed reading, music, gardening, especially the farm, story telling, cooking, fishing and was passionate about travelling. Above all, he loved being with his family. Rocco was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold and a member of the Italian Catholic Association. A very special thank you to Dr. Richard Safranyos for his dedication to duty and the nurses at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care and compassion.
