MONTGOMERY, RANDY "MONTY "GARNET- Passed away suddenly at his home that he loved, on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was married to Robin Fetterly for 49 years. Father to Ryan, Rory and the late Reed. Son-in-law to Helen Fetterly. Brother to Karl, Craig, Wane and Larry Montgomery. Brother-in-law to Debbie (Wayne) Knight. Uncle to Paul Knight and Jordan Montgomery. Randy is predeceased by his parents, Doug and Louise Montgomery, his father-in-law Lorne Fetterly and sister-in-law Carole Montgomery. Born in St. Catharines, Randy lived in downtown area until the family moved to Henrietta Street. He was always proud to be a "Western Hill" boy, living there until 1974. Randy was a proud member of the Ironworker Union Local 736 out of Hamilton where he maintained his membership for more than 25 years. Randy was employed by the City of St. Catharines Fire Department for 28 years, retiring in 2012. Monty enjoyed many years playing lacrosse, baseball, football, and hockey starting from a very early age. He met and maintained many friends through his years playing the sports he loved. His favorite pastime was fishing every Sunday -usually at Lake Ontario or on the Niagara River - with his lifelong friend Paul Smelle. Please join us on Sunday October 15, 2023, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 corner of George and Lousia Streets in St. Catharines. This will not be a service but a time to share and reminisce. The family would like to thank the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home and especially Rob Hubbert for your professionalism, knowledge, and friendship. According to Randy's wishes cremation has taken place. Monty always had a fond heart for donations to the Ontario March of Dimes, Niagara Region as they were instrumental in assisting his brother Karl in maintaining his independence.
