BOZZA, NICOLA - It is with much sorrow our family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Nicola Bozza at Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Residence, Thorold, on Saturday, February 11, at the age of 95. Born February 7, 1922 in Limosano, Campobasso, Italy. Beloved husband of 50 years of the late Angela Bozza (May 22, 1997). Loving father of the late Mario Joseph Bozza (March 10, 1971), Tony and his wife Antoinette (Giacomino), St. Catharines, Nick Jr. and his wife Louise (Tisi), Thorold. Nonno will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Joseph, David (Amy) and Stephanie. Predeceased by his brother Giovanni, and his wife Addolorata Bozza. Also predeceased by his sister Cesina (Bozza) Ricciuto and her husband Antonio Ricciuto. Nicola is survived by his brother Assuntino, and his wife Filomena Bozza, sister-in-law Marianna Lanese and predeceased by her husband Giuseppe. Predeceased by sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Giovannina and Antonio D'Ambrosio (Italy), Rosaria and Giovanni Donatelli (Australia). Nicola was a tow motor driver at Abitibi Paper Company (Front St.) in Thorold for 34 years and enjoyed 35 full years of retirement. Nicola was a prayerful, faith-filled, compassionate person and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Thorold since 1964. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed the company of those around him and loved good conversation. Nicola served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 in the Italian Army. Nicola dearly loved his wife Angela, whom he missed very much since her passing 19 years ago. Nicola is now reunited with many family and friends who have passed before him, including the love of his life where he will forever enjoy Angela's company and together join their beloved late son, Mario Joseph. Nicola will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of Cobblestone Gardens Retirement Residence, Thorold, the staff of the Canadian Arrhythmia Institute and the staff of Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. Also heartfelt gratitude to Dr. H. Miller, Dr. G. Sinton, and Dr. E. Rabin for their memorable attention to Nicola.
The family will receive friends at the BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 7 - 9 p.m., and Wednesday, February 15 form 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m.
Vigil Prayers recited at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold, on Thursday at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial donations to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
