BARKER, MAUREEN “MOE” HELEN (Née Sullivan) – Surrounded by the comforting love of her family, Maureen peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Hospice Niagara Walker House in Welland at the age of 85. Irish Eyes are surely smiling!  
Cherished and devoted Mother to Brent (Jennifer), Blaine (Danielle), Jolene (Lee Burrows), Brad (Krista), and Janna (Steven Slocum). Loving Grandma to Julia, Karson (Burke), Marshall, Trenten, Brendan, Blayden, Megan, Brody, Garrett, Britton, Bennett, Morgan, Shorleigh, Madelynn, Kourtney, and Shaunessey, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister Carole and will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Sheala (Irvine) Sullivan-Molnar, Dean (Anita) Sullivan, and Cathy (Danny) Baraniuk, as well as by her many nieces, nephews, cousins (especially the “Killaloe Gang”), dear friends, and nursing colleagues.
A woman of deep faith, Maureen was a devoted and active member of the St. Catharines Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love and service for others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Maureen was a proud graduate of the Mack School of Nursing and dedicated more than forty years of service as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at St. Catharines General Hospital. Throughout her career, she compassionately cared for and comforted thousands of patients, leaving a lasting impression through her kindness and professionalism.
Growing up, Maureen attended St. John’s Catholic Elementary School and St. Catharines Collegiate High School. Being an avid sports lover, Maureen played several sports, including Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, and Track and Field. Maureen was famous for her delicious homemade pies, butter tarts and other baked goods. Maureen provided her wisdom and guidance as the “Akela” Cub Scout leader for several years. Maureen also gave countless hours at her children’s schools, volunteering her time and talents. Maureen was fondly known for her wonderful sense of humour, happy disposition, and bright smile.
Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 351 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines, on Monday, April 27, 20026 at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

Maureen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible Palliative Care Outreach Team and the extraordinary staff at Hospice Niagara Walker House for the compassionate care they provided to their Mother.
