MIOTTO, Mary (née Colavecchia) - (Member of the St. Patrick’s C.W.L. and Club Italia Ladies Auxiliary and St. Vincent de Paul) – Peacefully, with her family by her side, she was called to heaven on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the age of 92 at Amica Retirement Home in Stoney Creek. Beloved wife of the late Eugene. Loving mother of Gene (Erikka), Sandra Forten and Jim (Nannette). Proud grandmother of Joey, Nadine, Christopher, Cassidy, Jordan, and was blessed four times as a great-grandmother. Predeceased by her siblings Tedde (Harry) McDermott, Livio (Amelia) Colavecchia and Louis (Betty) Colavecchia. A special friend to many, she will be fondly remembered and missed. Mary was born in Merritton, where she grew up and married our father in 1952. Within 5 years they built their own home just 5 doors down on Moffatt Street where our mother lived for 90 years. An exceptionally strong woman, who took care of herself right up to the last week. A great cook, baker and gardener, she made everything with love and enjoyed feeding her family and friends. Our mother fought an amazing battle with cancer and never let it stop her from doing the things she enjoyed. Relatives and friends will be received at the BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass in the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, Lincoln County Humane Society or St. Vincent de Paul, would be appreciated by the family. On-line condolences may be made at www.bocchinfusofh.com
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alnhisi for steering us in the right direction, Dr. Giesbrecht, Dr. Bisson, Dr. Hallock and Dr. R. Scott and the incredible cancer team at St. Catharines General, who gave us a lot more time with our Mother; the wonderful palliative care team from Hamilton, especially Nurse Trish; and the entire staff at Amica Retirement Home in Stoney Creek, where she resided – the blanket of honour you draped over her was amazing; her nephews and nieces from Canada and the USA and local friends and their families for all your help and support.
