Mary Lavis

Lavis, Mary (Tymochko) ~ surrounded by her loving family, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Lavis, who was killed in Dieppe, fighting for his beloved country, Canada. Predeceased by her parents Anastasia and Michael Tymochko. Loving mother of Willis (Phyllis) Lavis and Carol (Walter) Lastewka. Nana will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ingeborg, Tamara, Carrie Ann and Virginia and by her 9 great grandchildren. Dear sister of the late William and the late Jean Timmons, Annie (the late Steve) Shugan, Elsie (the late Christopher) Duff, Stella (the late John) Cienik, John (Helen) Tymochko and Fred (the late Velda) Tymochko. Predeceased by her infant brother Sam (1914). Mary worked for the Ontario Paper Co. She was a member of the Thorold Senior Citizens, the Dunlop Seniors, St. Catharines, the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #17, Thorold and a past parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Church in Thorold. Mary was an avid Toronto Blue Jay fan and enjoyed cheering while watching her great grandchildren playing sports.
