Mario Grano

Grano, Mario ~ it is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my husband and very best friend, Mario after a 7 year battle with cancer on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Loving husband of Vicky (De Meo) Grano for 41 years. Devoted father of Theresa and Jamie Skilton, Lisa and Luca Vallescura and Mario Jr. and Christel Grano. Mario leaves behind the reason that kept him going, his grandchildren Taryn and Jaiden Skilton, Lauren and Julia Vallescura and Aleshia and Madison Grano. He is survived by his family Lena Grimaldi, Rita (Mario) Pirillo, Rosetta Grano, Jenny Grano, Vince Grano, Tony (Linda) Grano, Rose (Vince) Serravalle and Joseph (Roseanna) De Meo. Predeceased by parents Frank and Theresa Grano, parents-in-law Livio and Caterina De Meo, brothers Chris Grano and Peter Grano and brother and sister-in-law Thomaso Grimaldi and Mary Grano. Mario worked for General Motors until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid bowler and loved to work with his hands. He was called the neighbourhood "Mr. Fix It". Mario will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle but more than anything a true friend to those who were fortunate enough to call him "Friend". A special thank you to everyone for their help and support during his illness, especially our neighbours Luigi and Iola Curcio and Maria Marconi and David Hastings, his best friend for always being there for Mario and cheering up his days.
