Marino Cecchini

Cecchini, Marino ~ surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness, Marino was called back home to Our Lord in Heaven, at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital on Monday, June 18, 2012 in his 71st year. Cherished husband and life long best friend "Honey" for 47 years to Virginia (Rossini) Cecchini. A great dad to Chris (Lori) and Mark (Rosanne). Cherished and loving Nonno to Lauren, Landen, Brandon, Jordan, Matthew, Sarah and Anthony. Big Nonno to Preston and Quinton. Marino is survived by sister, Marisa (Elio) Lucchetti; nieces, Titzianna and Paola (Piera Paulo) all of Italy; Sandra (Peter) Lutz; and Lisa and Rita Bettiol of St. Catharines. Predeceased by parents Quinto and Tina Cecchini; sister Marcella (Primo) Bettiol; and father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mary Rossini. Marino will be sadly missed by many cousins and friends. He worked for General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1995; was a member of the CAW Local 199; a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold; an active member of The Sacred Heart Council #2319, Thorold, Knight of Columbus and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #138, Merritton. Marino was a great family man and enjoyed getting together with family and friends and taught us the importance of family and these memories will always be cherished. He loved his garden and was an avid bowler and golfer and also loved playing cards and meeting friends for coffee. Marino also enjoyed vacationing in Florida where he made many new friends, and was part of a new family in Panama City Beach. He will live in our hearts forever. A special thank you to Dr. Miller, all the nursing staff at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital, and ParaMed nurses for the help and care they provided. Above all, many thanks to friends and family that helped Marino through this difficult time by showing him love, compassion, kindness and understanding.
