BUCHANAN, M. Marilyn (née Wark) July 1, 1932 - July 9, 2026 – Peacefully, Marilyn passed away with the love of her family surrounding her at Ina Grafton Gage Village on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the age of 94. Cherished wife of Arthur Buchanan, who predeceased her in May 2017. Beloved mother of Sharon (Brian) Gilkinson, Bruce (Cathy) Buchanan, and Cathy (Dan) Toppari. Loving grandmother to Diane (Mark), Kristen (Jason), Kevin (Kim), Sherri, Jamie (Erika), Ryan (Danielle), Kayla (Kenny), Jason (Melissa) and Melissa. Remembered and always loved by eighteen great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Francis and Doris (née Beamer) Wark; brother Don (Sylvia) Wark; her granddaughter Diane’s late husband, Christopher Michael. Marilyn completed her education in Merritton before training as a hair stylist in Hamilton. She and Art married on June 21, 1952, and eventually settled in their new home which they built next-door to her parents’ farmhouse in the Warkdale subdivision. She was known for her many artistic talents, especially her oil paintings. Her community service included membership in the DeCew Women’s Institute and the Anglican Church Women’s organization. Marilyn triumphed over health challenges 31 years ago, inspiring her family and many friends. She was a kind soul, who will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Visitors will be received on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold, followed by a funeral service in the Lamb Chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Private family graveside service.
