Lalonde Margaret

Lalonde Margaret (Simo) ~ at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of 23 years to Fred Lalonde. Predeceased by her first husband George Burscik (1973). Loving mother of Linda (Garth) Oakes and stepmother of Kathy, Wendy (Ed) and Karen. Grandma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Garth Jr., Gavin and Jesse Oakes and Sarah, Andy, Miranda, Cindy and Kim Lockie, Lauren and Tommy Smeed and by her great grandchildren Morgan and Grace. Dear sister of Charles (Kathleen) Simo. Loving aunt of Carolyn (Greg) Bishop; Kathleen (Terry) Drydak; James (Agnes) Simo and Shirley Simo. Dear great aunt of Daniel, Samuel, Jenny, Mikle, Brandy, Brian, Sherry and Kelly. Also survived by many friends, cousins and brother & sisters-in-law. In 2000 Margaret received the Humanitarian Award for her numerous hours of dedicated volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a member of the Merritton Lioness receiving the Helen Keller Fellowship Award in 2001. She also volunteered with the Community Care of Thorold, Welland Trefoil Guild, Welland Girl Guides, Arthritis Society, and the Diabetes Association. Margaret also sat on the Library Board in Thorold. She was also a member of Holy Rosary Church Catholic Women's League.
