LA SCALA, Antonio "Tony" ~ it is with broken hearts that the family of Tony La Scala announces his passing on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 52 years to Rose (Maletta) La Scala. Loving father of Joanne La Scala and Frank La Scala. Nonno will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lucas Maddalena, Michaela Maddalena, Matthew La Scala and Maddison La Scala. Dear brother of Maria (the late Antonio) Sirianni. Predeceased by parents Giovanna and Francesco La Scala, brother Salvatore survived by his wife Raffaela, and sisters Franca (the late Giovanni) Verde and Innocenza (the late Pasquale) Lento. Tony will also be missed by all of Rose's family, many nieces, nephews, cousins and long time friends including his wonderful neighbours on Rose Ave. in Thorold who all pitched in and helped the La Scala Family. He battled a very difficult disease with great determination, courage and fortitude. Tony travelled his journey with wit, humour and continued to live his life to the fullest. A true fighter till the end. Tony was born in Sambiase, Italy and came to Canada as a young man. He retired from General Motors after working for over 30 years. Tony spent his time helping to raise his grandchildren. He loved singing, music and was a member of the Club Roma Choir. His passion for music, his garden and most of all his family kept a smile on his face and song in his heart. He will be forever missed. The La Scala Family wishes to thank all the nurses in the ICU/PCU-2B at the NHS-St. Catharines Site, and the doctors at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton for their care.
