Kathleen Burnett

BURNETT, Kathleen "Kitty" ~ surrounded by her loving family, at the St. Catharines Hospital on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the age of 85. Loving, kind, compassionate, generous and gentle mother of Rick (Loretta) Burnett, Cheryl (Paul) Granton, Susan Burnett (John Thorpe) and John Burnett. Big Nan will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Smith, Chris Burnett (Katie Krynycky), Joseph Granton, Amy Granton and Nicole Burnett and by her step grandchildren Kate (Greg) Buium and by her great grandchildren Samantha and Sarah Smith, and Toby and Maya Buium. Dear sister of Jeanette (Philip) Milley. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Kitty will also be remembered by Dorothy Liddycoat and all her Tea Shop friends and many nieces, nephews and friends. Kitty started her career with the Thorold Police Department then transferred to St. Catharines after the amalgamation of police services. She retired in 1989 from the position of Lead Secretary in the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Niagara Regional Police Service. She dearly loved her job and always wished that she could have continued working beyond the mandatory retirement age. A special thank you to Dr. Levesque, Nurse Dot, Dr. Wasserman, staff of 3B Oncology (especially Marco), C.C.A.C. Staff, Jan, Prakash and Kayley for their care and compassion as Kitty travelled this path.
