MURPHY, Josina Petronella - At the beautiful age of 90, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023 at Niagara Health St. Catharines. Beloved wife of the late Ross.  Josie is survived by her loving children, Janice Birtles, Catherine Murphy and Gordon Murphy, predeceased by her son Stephen. She was born on December 23, 1933 in a Dutch village area called Schyndel. She and her entire family came to Canada in the 50's, arriving in Halifax then onto Alberta. She was known in choirs around St. Catharines for her lovely voice. She was also an devoted volunteer at Shaver Hospital for 20 years. She tried her hand in a business that was "unique" – she put her heart and soul into it. She was a dedicated parishioner in her local church and in its choir. Surviving family are Victor and Josie Duffhues, Yo Feldberg, Anne Pace, Betsie Quan, Bernadet McKay, Rita Bradfort, Bud Johnson and many, many nieces and nephews. Josina was preceded in death by her parents Johan and Mechelina Duffhues and her brothers Jan Duffhues, Huey Duffhues, Dolf Duffhues and sister Tina Johnson. Her love of animals was famous, the last 14 years spent with Chloe. Visitation will be held at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street. Thorold on January 5, 2024 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. A celebration of life service will follow. If desired, memorial donations to in lieu of flowers to Covenant House would be appreciated by the family.
