HAMILTON, IRENE –Irene passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Northland Point in Port Colborne in her 99th year. Proud of her large family, that she raised on her own, Irene was the devoted mother to Carl, Gary (Marlene), Leo (Laurie), Vivian, Boyd (Debbie), Rick (Colleen) and Terry (Darlene), and predeceased by her eldest daughter Jean. Irene will be fondly remembered by her many cherished grandchildren, grandchildren-in-law and great grandchildren. Irene is survived by her brothers Bill and Harry (Mae) but predeceased by her siblings Helen (John), Vera (Bernard), Dean (Eleanor) and Jean. Irene was born in Detlor, Ontario in 1927 to Marguerite and Harry Foster. In 1964, she relocated with her young family to Allanburg, Ontario.
She devoted her life with unwavering love to raising her eight children, working many varied jobs to support and care for them, and it was through that same loving dedication that she began gardening. Over the years, gardening blossomed into her passion, her joy and her quiet place of peace. With her remarkable green thumb, she found happiness in planting, nurturing and watching things grow. She continued to garden well into her 98th year, a reflection of her strength, grace and enduring spirit. She also treasured the simple beauty of listening to and watching the birds in her backyard.
Visitors will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold Friday, June 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM -12:00 when a funeral service will be held in the Lamb Chapel of the funeral home.
