Gordon Stevens

Stevens, Gordon ~ surrounded by his loving family, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the age of 86. Loving husband of 65 years to Mary (McGarrity) Stevens. Loving father of Marlene Stevens, Donna Saunders and Billie (Bill) McNamara. Papa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Timothy (Jennifer), Kelly (Carole), David (Helen) and Darryl (Karen) and by his great grandchildren Dustin, Zachary, Taylor Rose, Megan and Kaitlyn. Dear brother of Dorothy Nestor and Marguerite Trowbridge. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Helen Smithers, Phyllis Lamb, Violet Marshall, Walter Stevens, Mabel Wood, Wilfred Stevens, Johnny Stevens, Jimmy Stevens, Allan Stevens, Richard Stevens, Carmel Alexander and Victor Stevens. Gord served with the Merchant Navy during WWII from 1942 - 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #138, Merritton and Br. #17, Thorold, Canadian Corp Unit #44, Thorold. He also played for the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse and enjoyed driving the ballplayers to their games. Gord worked as a superintendent for the Ontario Paper Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
