Giuseppina Basile

BASILE, Giuseppina (Pina) - passed away peacefully, on March 26, 2019 in St. Catharines in her 96th year with family by her side. Survived by Nino, her loving husband of 62 years. Pina leaves behind her brothers Luigi and Oreste Silvestri and sisters Anna Allegritti (Italy), Francesca Ranalli and Gianna (Otto) Grenke. Loving zia to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Pina Came from Civitella Roveto L'Aquilla, Italy to Canada in 1955. Zia was the matriarch of the Silvestri family and was generous to all. She was devoted to her family, and for many big gatherings, the family enjoyed her fabulous cooking and baking. Pina enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens (especially her fig trees). She was a member of St. Alfred's Seniors Club, Club Roma and Italo-Canadian Retirees where she was an avid bingo player. She was also a proud supporter of Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Friends will be received at the BOCCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 with Vigil Prayers recited at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 31 Chestnut Street East, St. Catharines on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to St. Patrick's Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
