Raimondo, Giovanni ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved husband, father and nonno in his 83rd year at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Beloved husband of 52 years to Onelia (Palazzo) Raimondo. Loving father of Maria (Lou) Biagi; Concetta (John) Pisano; Architect, Emilio (Anna-Marie) Raimondo and Michael (Ida) Raimondo. Nonno will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Daniela, Elissa and Roberto Biagi; Olivia and John-Alexander Raimondo and Jessica Raimondo. Predeceased by his parents Felice Emilio and Maria-Costanza (Colitti) Raimondo and in-laws Angelo-Michele and Maria-Concetta Palazzo. Dear brother of the late Luigi (the late Addolorata) Raimondo; Carmela (the late Francesco) D'Amelio; the late Maria (Luigi) Iantomasi; Antonio (the late Iolanda) Raimondo; Giuseppe (Concetta) Raimondo and the late Domenico Raimondo. Brother-in-law of the late Rosa (the late Filomeno) Cirella; the late Matteo (the late Aurora) Palazzo; Ida (the late Elio) Cinquepalmi and Ennio (Felicetta) Palazzo. Zio Giovanni will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Giovanni was born in Montorio Nei Frentani, Campobasso, Italy. A man of integrity and honesty, the strength of his character allowed him to always put others before himself. He served in WWII as a soldier of the Italian army for two years. Giovanni immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he married in 1956 and made many sacrifices for the betterment of his family. Giovanni worked for the Ontario Paper Mill for 32 years as a pipe fitter, a construction worker and a millwright retiring in 1987. Among his greatest passions in life were his family, gardening and being a handyman to all. Music, singing and dancing gave him great joy. He was our family champion card player! Giovanni was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold and a proud member of Club Capri.
