MARCHESE, GIOVANNI "John" - It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of John, surrounded by his family, at Niagara Health St. Catharines Site on Thursday, October 18, 2018, in his 95th year. John will be always loved and never forgotten by his family, beloved wife of 65 years, Ada; loving children Clara (Chris) Warden and Franco, and cherished grandchildren Jessica, Gabriele and Jovanni. John is survived by his siblings-in-law Aldo, Adrianna, Anthony and their spouses, and will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Rachele, siblings Angelina, Paul, Marietta, Margherita, Erminia, Alberto, Francesco, Giuseppe and their spouses. John immigrated from Aprigliano, Cosenza, Italy to Thorold in 1949, where he worked for the paper mill for 37 years, retiring in 1987. For John, family was always his first priority, but he also loved being outside, going for daily walks, playing bocce and cards with his friends and working in his garden. He was a very social person who always had a warm smile and a moment to stop to talk to everyone. Relatives and friends will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 3:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold. Rite of Committal Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
