February 1, 1931 - July 30, 2026  

Peacefully at Walker House Hospice in Welland on July 30th, 2026, Giovanni LaFratta of Thorold passed away in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Marynova LaFratta.  
Loving father of Johnny (Phyllis), Dino, Gino, and David (Sherry). Proud Nonno to Chris (Carissa), Jennifer, Alexis, and Colton, and Great Nonno to Gianna, Ariella, and Emilia.
Giovanni will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Joseph LaFratta (the late Maria), Lina Cimino (the late Domenic), Michael LaFratta (the late Dory), Victor LaFratta (Lena), Claudia Pignotti (the late Felix), Mario LaFratta (Lina), and Pat LaFratta, as well as sister-in-law Dee Petti (the late Tom Petti). He was predeceased by his parents Liberato and Loretta, Step-Mother Consiglia LaFratta and siblings Carmela Mascione (the late Antonio) and Lucia Di Felice (the late Elio). He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Giovanni immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1954 and built a life centered on family, hard work, and dedication. He was a valued employee of the Maintenance Department at Brock University for over 20 years, where he was respected for his kindness and reliability.
He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and staying busy with projects around his home. Giovanni will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, and devotion to his family. Visitors will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUENRAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 3:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY PARISH 21Queen Street South, Thorold on Wednesday at 11: 00 AM. Rite of Committal Lakeview Cemetery.
