George Hildebrand

HILDEBRAND, George ~ it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. George Earl Hildebrand, at the St. Catharines Hospital on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 53 years to the late Nellie (Zanni) Hildebrand (2000). Loving father of Fran Hildebrand, Greg (Paddi) Hildebrand, Cathie (Roben) Severy, Bert (Barb) Hildebrand, Larry (Judi) Hildebrand, Anne Hildebrand (Peter Turcaj) and Theresa (Rob) Donelson. Papa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Helen and sister-in-law Dot. Predeceased by parents Earl and Marguerite (Cole) Hildebrand, brother Bert, sisters Anna and Marie and brothers-in-law Chuck, Bernie and Pat. Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, George was a respected Optometrist in Thorold where he practiced for over 40 years. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto following WWII, during which he served as a wireless operator and decoder. He was an avid golfer, scoring three holes-in-one during his lifetime and was a member of the St. Catharines Golf & Country Club for 48 years. A special thank you to Dr. Nagai for his exceptional care and to the staff of the NHS-St. Catharines Site (Dialysis Unit).
