Mauro, Frank D. ~ surrounded by his loving family, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 49 years to Emma (Venneri) Mauro. Loving father of John (Suzanne) Mauro, Teresa (Joe) Jessome, Linda Mauro and Christine (Mark) Johnson. Papa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kaitlin, Jacob, Matthew, Jordan, Megan, Ryan and Aidan. Dear brother of Ralph Mauro, the late James survived by his wife Mary Mauro and the late Eugenio Mauro and brother-in-law of Charina (Joe) Serravalle, Lena (Peter) Calendino, the late Assunta (the late Armando) Citrigno, the late Cesare Venneri, Ugo (Rosemary) Venneri and Frank (Rose) Venneri. Predeceased by parents Giovanni and Teresina Mauro. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Frank was a veteran of WWII, serving in Holland and Germany, was awarded the France & Germany Star and also received a volunteer medal. He served with the Queen's Own Rifles, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #17, Thorold, member of Club Belvedere and a past member of the St. Catharines Flying Club. Frank worked and left his trademark in the Niagara area on the homes he built with his carpentry specialties. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold. Frank had a passion for music, enjoyed playing the mandolin, accordion and keyboard. His favourite time spent was with his grandchildren.
