MAURO, EMMA (Née Venneri) – With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our precious Mother, Nonna and Bisnonna, the heart of our family, Emma, on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Westhills Care Centre in her 95th year. We take comfort that our mom is reunited with our dear dad, Frank, who left us in 2010. Devoted and loving mother to John (Andrea), Teresa (Joe), Linda (Paul) and Christine. Cherished Nonna to Matthew (Kelsea), Jordan, Kaitlin, Jacob, Megan, Ryan and Aidan and Bisnonna to Lorelei. Honourary Nonna to Noah, Jack and Behn. Emma is survived by her bother Ugo (Rosemary) but is predeceased by her parents Luigi and Maria, her in-laws John and Teresina, her siblings Chiarina (Joe), Lena (Peter), Assunta (Armando), Cesare (surviving spouse Pat), and Frank (surviving spouse Rose); and her siblings-in-law Jim (Mary), Ralph and Eugenio. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Emma was born and raised in Mangone, Italy, where she developed her talent for sewing, a passion that she maintained all her life. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 with her father and brother to rejoin the rest of her family, where she met and married Frank. Together they devoted their life to raising their four children, and welcomed the seven grandchildren that were the light of her life. The joy that these children brought to Emma was immeasurable and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Cooking was how Emma showed her love and her delight was to cook for her whole family, not only for special occasions, but every day. Emma’s enthusiasm for gardening was unsurpassed, regardless of any aches and pains, keeping her garden into her 90th year. Strong in her faith, Emma was a regular parishioner at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She had a heart of gold and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 3:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen Street South, Thorold at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations to Niagara Health Foundation or McMaster Children’s hospital and online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Westhills Care Centre, especially the Cedar Court, for their compassionate care of our mom, for the past few years. We are also very grateful for all of their support in her final days.

We will miss you, Ma, you will be in our hearts forever.
