Taylor, Douglas Caleb ~ at the St. Catharines General Hospital, on Sunday, May 22, 2011, the "Big Guy" left us at the age of 87. Beloved husband of his beautiful wife, the late Sadie Taylor (2004). Loving father of Ken (Barb), Jerry (Lee Anne), Bobby (Tracy) and Paula (the late Cam, 2007) Maxner. Predeceased by parents Matthew and Fanny and his daughter Lorraine (2000). Papa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren and his 12 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandchildren Laureen, Brayden, Brenna and Shannon. Dear brother of Robert (Gert), Lil, Rita, Joyce, George (Leah), Dan (Ida) and Weldon and brother-in-law of Ken (Gwen), Angus (Jean) and Danny Boy (Carol) McDonald. Douglas will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born in Glace Bay on September 12, 1923. He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1942 to 1945. Douglas worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was an awesome athlete; he played baseball for the Bay Bys, winning several championships. He also played hockey for the Glace Bay Miners and the R.C.A.F. and was an avid bowler winning many trophies.
