Del Duca

Del Duca, Arcangelo ~ born in Terrelle, Italy on January 28, 1929. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Arcangelo. His valiant battle with cancer is over. Arcangelo pass away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 9, 2009. Dearest husband of 57 years to Assunta (Valente) Del Duca. Loving father of Fortunato "Fred" (Rose) and Mario (Rosella). Nonno will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jennifer (Joseph) Abbruscato, Lisa Del Duca, Crissy (Clint) Bowman, Matthew (finaceè Catherine) Del Duca and Samantha Del Duca and by his cherished great grandchildren Joseph, Nicholas and Alexa. Dear brother of Raffaele (the late Maria Luiga) Del Duca and sister-in-law Maria (the late Ciacinto) Del Duca. Zio will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and his cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Angelina (Mariani) Del Duca, his sister Nunsiata, brothers Pietro, Raffaele, Fortunato and Antonio and his wife Libera Del Duca, sister-in-law Angelina and her husband Antonio Fandotzi, brother-in-law Philipo and his wife Antoniella Valente. Arcangelo was the youngest of seven children. He brought his family to Canada in 1963 and settled in the community of Thorold. Arcangelo was a hard working man always striving to do his best for his family. He retired from the Ontario Paper Co. in 1988, and turned his attention to gardening. He enjoyed family gatherings, celebrations and being around friends. Arcangelo was blessed with wonderful neighbours and supportive friends. Their encouragement to him and his family through this time was much appreciated. Arcangelo was a long time active parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Thorold. A special thank you to a compassionate family physician, Dr. Zuliani and his staff, oncologist Dr. Findlay and the wonderful oncology nurses at the St. Catharines General Hospital and to Marete and Darryl. Their daily visits brought comfort to Arcangelo and his family.
