BURNS, DANIEL ANDREW – Having been surrounded by his family during an extended hospital visit, Dan passed away at Niagara Health Marrotta Family Hospital St. Catharines on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in his 89th year. Loving husband to Janet (née Lymburner) for almost 62 years. Proud Dad to Heather Warkentin of Edmonton, Alberta, and Colleen (Phil) Champion of St. Catharines, Ontario. Caring Papa to Brandon (Kalyn) and Dylan (Kylie) but sadly predeceased by his grandson Marshal. Great Papa to Jaxon, Andrew, Ryker and Mackenzie. Remembered by his sister Nancy Cook and her family and sister-in-law Sharon (the late Jim) Thurston and her family. Dan was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Eleanor (née Kennedy), his sister Mary Ann and his sister-in-law Eileen (Don) Jack. Dan's favourite pastimes were long walks and trail finds, and he was extremely proud of his Merritton roots. He worked as a supervisor for General Motors, retiring in 1991, meaning that he was retired longer than he worked, so he had lots of time to putter around the house, spend time at the cottage and go bowling. Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church 31 Chestnut Street East, St. Catharines at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Dan will be laid to rest in the summer when all of his family can be together.
