Charleen Lillian Warner (Lama) In her 76th year, wife of Ian for almost 54 years, proud mother of Pam (Mike) and Kyle (Dawn), daughter of Cecil Lama and Lucile Lama (Wingard), sister of Bryce (Becky), sister-in-law to Shirley Warner, grandmother to Richard, Roger, Kiera, Zachary and Dillon (Fallon), great grandmother to Sadie. Charleen was born and raised in Moulinette until moving to Long Sault in 1957 where she met, started dating, and fell in love with Ian. She graduated first from C.C.V.S. and then Ottawa Teachers College in 1960. She taught in Cornwall and Thorold after marriage until 1966 when she left the profession to become a full-time Mom. She was a very active sports enthusiast with swimming, skating, canoeing, and nature walks. She and Ian held 50 yard line season tickets with the Hamilton TiCats for many years and she loved to watch most any sports live or on TV. Charleen was very active in church work, choir, Sunday school, Camp Kagama counselor and swimming instructor, CGIT member then leader and was awarded a life-time membership. She also served on many boards, chairmanships and as UCW president. Charleen was diagnosed with MS in 1984 and became a quadriplegic in 1997. She succumbed to double pneumonia on March 18th at St. Catharines General Hospital with her family holding her tightly. Thanks to all the doctors, nurses, home care workers with CBI and March of Dimes. Special thanks to Dr. Joe Wakil and Dr. Jeremy Child. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26 at Westminster United Church at 1 pm, to be followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations towards MS research.
