CARMELA CONTINELLI
July 22, 1928 ~ April 27, 2026
A devoted wife, mother, nonna and bisnonna, sister, and friend, Carmela’s life was defined by family and faith, and built on hard work, love, and kindness.
We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her cherished husband, John.
Treasured mom to her two daughters and their husbands: Angela and Frank Cottone, and Anna Maria and Miro Ostojic.
Beloved and proud nonna to her three grandchildren: Antonina (Carmine), Alexander (Aashta) and Zachary (Megan).
Bisnonna had the joy of welcoming her two great grandchildren into the world: Adriano and Alyana.
Missed by her siblings Elena (the late Emelio) Di Pardo, and Tony (Grace), she was predeceased by her siblings Emilia (Tito) Sciscente, and Domenic (Margaret).
She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Born in Casacalenda, Campobasso, Italy to Giovanni and Anna Maria Continelli. Carmela and John were married in 1950 and worked hard to raise money to fulfill their dream of immigrating to Canada in 1953. After arriving in Canada, with a babe in their arms along with their grit, vision, and will, set out to build something meaningful. And that is exactly what they did including raising two daughters.
Family was at the centre of Carmela’s life. Over the decades, she modeled her values every day: hard work, honesty, and doing things the right way. She loved to cook and bake and always made sure you never left her kitchen without a package filled with food and love to take home.
Our mom was devoted to her faith and an avid parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Cobblestone Gardens for all their care.
She will be missed beyond measure, remembered always, and carried with us forever.
