SWAN, Barbara Ann (Hall) ~ it is with sad hearts and grateful spirits that we announce the passing of Barbara into the arms of our Lord at her home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of 60 years to David Swan (married November 8, 1952). Loving mother of Sylvia (Thomas) Fannon, Bradley (Tracey) Swan and Tracey (Thomas) Galbraith. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Swan and Isabella, Sophia, John Paul and Mario Galbraith. Predeceased by mother Phyllis Daverin and adopting parents Annie May and John Hall. Dear sister of Leona (Michael) Lenartowich. Barbara was much loved and will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Born on January 4, 1933 and raised in McNab as a child and teen, Barbara then lived and raised her children with her husband in Merritton. A beautiful soprano soloist throughout her teens and adult life, she was heard and gave joy and comfort to so many in the Niagara Region as she sang at the Bandstands, Nursing Homes, the Home for the Blind, the Armouries, the Oban Inn, weddings and many other events. She won several top awards in 1942-43 in voice exams at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Barbara was a dedicated long standing member of the Ladies Shrine of Niagara, an outstanding gardener, cook and water-colour painter in her recent years. She dearly loved her family, friends, community, animals and the birds. Barbara and her family are forever grateful for the care she has received by all during these last difficult months.
