VETTRAINO, ANTONIO – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, and Nonno with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Niagara Health Marotta Family Hospital just a month short of his 84th birthday. Antonio was the beloved husband of Francesca “Franca” (née Del Duca) for 58 wonderful years. Loving and adored Daddy to Vincenza “Vicky” (Domenic) Pisano and Maria Vettraino (Dan). Proud and cherished Nonno to Evelyn (2002), Blake (2004), Grace Pisano and Emma Vettraino. Antonio was an only child. He was a dear brother-in-law to Antonio (Giovanna) Del Duca, Mario (the late Guiseppina) Del Duca, Vittorio (Nadia) Del Duca, Alba (the late Francesco) Tari, (the late Loretta and Benedetto Iunni) and Nazzareno (Patrizia) Del Duca. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and dear friends. Antonio was a true jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. At the age of 17, he came to Canada alone with little more than determination and a dream of building a better future. In 1968, he returned to Italy, proposed to the love of his life, and married Franca. Family was at the centre of Antonio's life especially his granddaughters. He demonstrated his love not only through words alone, but through countless sacrifices. His dedication, generosity, and unwavering work ethic provided a strong foundation for those he loved. Antonio had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed playing the accordion. He loved hunting, tending to his vegetable garden, and sharing his knowledge and skills with others. A hardworking and dependable man, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family was everything to him. He was a one of a kind person and to know him was to know love. He will be forever missed and remembered. We will love you forever! A big thank you to the nursing staff at the Niagara Falls Satellite Dialysis Centre for their care and compassion. Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold on Monday October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations in Antonio’s memory may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or The Heart & Stroke Foundation. Online Condolences can be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
