MARCANTONIO, ANTONIO - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father Tony Marcantonio, on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the age of 78. He left us for the pearly gates of heaven after a short hospital stay but a lifelong battle with heart disease and diabetes. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Natalina (Née Tedeschi), his three children Anthony (Val), Dino (Christa) and Angi (Kent), his many grandchildren and great granddaughters. He is survived by his brothers Lou (Emma), Al (Lori), sister-in-law Lucy (Mike), brothers-in-law Natale (Gaetana), Domenico (Claudia), Davide (Marisa), Carmine (Tiziana) and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and will be fondly remembered by his beloved Zia Louisa D’Addario. Tony was predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Angiolina Marcantonio, and siblings Joe (Kelly), Rick and his only sister Mary Rossi. Tony made the journey to Canada in 1964. Landing in Merritton, Tony was reunited with his father where they worked and saved to prepare a house for the family’s arrival. His siblings and mother joined them in October of that year. In 1968 he met the love of his life, Natalina when he was delivering bread for Sorrento Bakery to the Italian families of Niagara Falls and Port Colborne. They were married in 1971 and started their family in 1973. Over the years they owned various business within the Niagara region all while Tony also worked in the construction industry. Fondly known as “Tony the Taper Guy” or the “Joker”, he was medically retired at age 55 where his attention turned to a love/hate relationship with his computers. Over the years Tony travelled and found joy in spending time with his many grandchildren or playing Solitaire in his gazebo with classic Italian music in the background. Tony’s one true love was his “Senora” Natalina. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his wife. From renovating her kitchen or taking her away for a weekend. She returned the favour by providing around the clock care to her “Rock” for the last four years of Tony’s life. A truer love will never be witnessed. Visitors will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be celebrated in the Lamb Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
