CELIMA, Anthony "Tony” - Passed away peacefully at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was 90 years old. Known for his warm and friendly nature, you couldn't go anywhere with him without someone stopping to say hello. Tony had a genuine gift for making people feel welcome, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tony was the devoted husband of the late Liberata "Betty" (née Perri) for 66 wonderful years. He was a loving and incredible father to Joe (Ann Mantini-Celima), Sandra (Sean Patricio), and Mary Ann Celima. He was a cherished Grandpa to his grandsons Andrew (Kristen) and Jack Patricio. Tony was the dear brother of Cosimo (Connie) and Virginia Gallo, and loving brother-in-law of Santino (Nikki) Perri.
He was predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Maria Celima, and his sister Lucy Altomare.
Tony found joy in life's simple pleasures — dancing with Betty, tending to his beloved vegetable garden, and above all, cherishing time spent with his family and grandsons.
Tony was a man of deep faith and a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He proudly worked at Fraser Paper in Thorold for 40 years, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. He was a proud member of Club Capri (the Order of the Sons of Italy of Canada) where he was awarded the Certificate of Merit for his many years of service. He was also a member of the Thorold Amateur Athletic Association and served as an umpire with the Ontario Baseball Association. Tony was a dedicated timekeeper and recognized for his years of volunteer service with the Thorold Junior B Blackhawks.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 4:15 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen Street, Thorold. Rite of Committal to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara and may be left, along with online condolences at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care received from the staff of the Dialysis and ICU units at the Marotta Family Hospital.
