MACPHERSON, Anna Denise "Maw" (nee Carey) — With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of "Maw" after nothing short of a brave fight with cancer on Sunday, March 31st, 2024, at the age of 64. Loving and devoted mother to her only daughter and best friend, Michelle (Devan) MacPherson, and step-mother to Mary (Mark) Schriver and Billy MacPherson. Loyal wife to Bill MacPherson for 31 years. Her precious grandbabies Holly, Arabella and Memphis were her whole heart and entire world. Adopted "Maw" to so many; special mention to Brandan and to Lauren — "Granny" to Laila and Makai. Survived by her siblings David (Bonnie) Carey, Catherine MacMullin, Perry (Maria) Carey, Paul (Elaine) Carey and Alana (John) Arp. She was "Auntie/Aunt Niecy" to many nieces and nephews but held an exceptionally close bond with her niece Melissa "Missy" MacMullin. Predeceased by her parents, Theodore "Ted" and Roberta "Marie" Carey. Her brothers, Robert Theodore "Teddy" and Mark Carey, sister Ardena Hawkins, brother-in-law Lawrence MacMullin, nephew Joseph "Joey" Martinovic and very special friend Clifton Leblanc. Denise was born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia as one of nine children: a coal miner's daughter. Her heart had never truly left the island. She spread the love, hospitality, and humour of the east coast wherever she went. She had a love for Timmies coffee, country music and little churches. She spent the past few years of her life working in the hospitality and tourism industry where she established life-long friendships with her cherished coworkers who became family to her. Special thanks to Dr. Yelamanchili and her team, Dr. Yaghini, her home care nurses, Jube and Lilya, and family friend Georgina. Sincere appreciation to those who had been of great help and support to her and our family during this time. As per Denise's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 28th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Ruby Carroll Hall (Trillium United Church) 415 Linwell Rd in St. Catharines. Please join us in remembering her — all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honour to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
