Furney, Ann ~ peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Thorold on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of over 50 years to the late Guy Furney (June 28, 2003). Loving mother of Debbie (Mark) Walters, Jamie (Ed) Hooymayers, David (Connie) Furney, and Janice (Michael) McDowell. Grandma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kelly (Gary), Heather (Graham), William, Kara, Nathan, Steven, Roy and Evan and by her great grandchildren Jenna, Alicia, Reese, and Nicholas. Dear sister and friend of Maureen (Clyde) McGeorge. Dear sister-in-law of Hugo (Colleen) Furney, Victor (Shirley) Furney, Zoe and Fey (Clayton) Strickland. Ann is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ann was an active and dedicated member of Girl Guides of Canada for more than 45 years. She was an avid camper and a recipient of the Ontario Award from Girl Guides of Canada Ontario Council for exceptional service. She also received the Silver Merit Award from Girl Guides of Canada National Council. She will be lovingly remembered as "Brown Owl/ Tawny Owl" by literally hundreds of girls and women in the Thorold District and beyond. Ann worked at the Dominion store, Pen Centre for 19 years and the Guide Shop in St. Catharines for 15 years. Ann was an active Parishioner of St. John's Anglican Church in Thorold. A special thank you for the care and compassion given to our mother by her long time friend Leila Withall, Doctor's Pringle, Levesque, and Hotte; and nursing staff; Glenda, Jan, Lucie, Terri, Vivian, Mary, Sandy and Evelyn. We could not have completed this journey without you!
